Hotels in Seattle
Many of you are staying in Seattle Thursday night before heading out into the mountains. The most convenient place to stay is downtown so that you can walk to everything without dealing with parking. There is a wide variety of places to choose from, most of which I have never been in, but have heard good things about. Here is a selection of five from most expensive to least right in downtown.

Alexis Hotel
My parents stay here when they are in town. Terrific location, gorgeous Chihuly glass in the lobby, an Aveda Spa and nice rooms. Very pricey.

Inn at the Market
The Pike Place Market is right in the thick of everything. I have heard that they have wonderful rooms and are very reasonable, despite the prime location.

Hotel Andra
A boutique hotel with a terrific location. Recently updated and changed it's name but still supposed to be a great place to stay.

Pacific Plaza Hotel
At 4th and Spring, this hotel is just 4 blocks from the Alexis but considerably cheaper, considering it's convenient location!

Moore Hotel
Cheap cheap cheap but a good location.

Other Suggestions
There is a huge selection of places to stay in Seattle and you don't need to be limited to this list. Rooms are definitely cheaper just outside of downtown, if you don't mind driving. Here are a variety of websites with other suggestions:

Booking Agent
You can also use this service which can help you find a hotel. Seattle Hotel Bookings
Click on "Advanced Hotel Search" and they will ask for a closest Seattle Landmark. with my parents at the Alexis, they are closest to the "Seattle Art Museum".
And of course, Expedia!

A few things to note: The Monorail is no longer in service and they are uncertain as to when it will be up and running. It used to run from Queen Anne, north of downtown to Downtown Seattle. There is a bus that runs along the route now but it travels much less frequently. Hotels in the Seattle Center area are no longer as convenient without this quick service to downtown!
